Key West, Florida
The southernmost point in the United States, Key West is famous for watersports, lively nightlife, beaches and historic sites. Don't miss Duval Street, one of the most energetic strips of shops, bars and cafes in all the land. Did we mention Sloppy Joe's novelist Ernest Hemingway?
And, for the more sober minded, the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum (look for the celebrated six-toed cats). Indeed, walking tours of Key West are the best way to see the island's intriguing architecture, courtyards and gardens. Start in the center of town at the Key West City Cemetery.
Cozumel, Mexico
Cozumel is proof that Mexico can do 'island favor' with the best of the Caribbean.
Cozumel offers a huge variety of things to do, see, taste and explore. This island just happens to be perched atop a coral reef. We will make a positive impact by visiting San Miguel Village to meet with Mayan descendants, learn about age-old traditions and help the local community by participating on the Give Back with Purpose Community Tour! We will visit a local church, San Pedro y San Pablo, to meet the guardians of this place of worship. Then we will visit the highlights of the tour. We will visit an orphanage and meet the amazing people who work there and learn how our visit supports their efforts.
Finally we will go to a local market to discover the home-grown flavors and culinary traditions of the Mayan community. We will enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch at a local restaurant. Going to a new place has the power to change you and this will leave a memorable impression.

2017 Founder's Award Recipient
The Founder's Award acknowledges women who didn't give up in pursuit of their destiny despite the odds of being successful.
Dr. Pamala V. Morris is currently an Assistant Dean/Director of the Office of Multicultural Programs and a full Professor for the Department of Youth Development and Agricultural Education, in the College of Agricultural at Purdue University. As faculty, her primary focus is to inform youth and adults, on an international, national and local level, about the changing faces of our global society and to increase their understanding and appreciation of cultural differences and similarities within, among the between groups. As Dean, she provides leadership in the area of multicultural education for faculty, staff, and students in the college. She developed and implemented two diversity awareness courses that serve as two out of three ways to fulfill a new Multicultural Understanding Requirement in the college. Dr. Morris has the distinction of being the first and only African American female and Professor in the College of Agriculture. The Midwest Women's Empowerment Summit is thrilled to bestow this award on Dr. Morris

Dr. Teresa Jeter is the founder and CEO of the Midwest Women's Empowerment Summit, Inc. (MWES). With her "Stir Up the Gift Within" conference/cruises and monthly conversations with empowered women, Dr. Jeter creates opportunities for women who seek to take their lives and careers to the next for success. Whether it is about discovering purpose, being a better person, learning entrepreneurial skills, taking financial control, or seeking motivation or mentorship, she created MWES to inspire, motivate and empower women. Dr. Jeter's faith in God and her audacity to take risks have opened many doors for her.
